I was just looking at some pictures of what people have done with their wooden backyard fences, and I thought, what a cool idea! A backyard fence is after all a blank canvas just begging to be decorated, right?
And there are so many things you can do with your fence! You can paint beautiful murals of the beach, or flowers or a giant tree with spreading branches the entire length of the fence. It can also be whimsical, or cartoon-like. The only limitation is your own imagination!
Another practical idea was a vertical garden, which I have never seen before. Window boxes can be filled with dirt and then place whatever plants you want in there. They hang vertically on your fence and add a really neat touch to your backyard, while also being practical if you don’t have much room in your yard for planting. Succulents seem to work best in these, but if you call Ann Arbor Landscaping, I’m sure they would be able to help you with some great design ideas for your planters!
Another couple of ideas I saw were rain boot planters hung from the fence, also a cozy cottage look with an old window placed against the fence, a pretty flowering tree beside it, and maybe an adirondack chair below the window and a watering can to complete the look.
There are so many things you can do with your fence, and if you’re like me, you never would have thought that something so innocuous as your backyard fence could hold so much potential!
